Unique to the industry, Gray-Nicolls grow only the best English willow for the production of their cricket bats. Salix Caerulea or Alba Var varieties are grown and harvested by the Company in a willow replenishment programme pioneered over 50 years ago. We very carefully oversee every aspect of the bat making process, guaranteeing a product of exemplary quality. All bats are given a final quality control inspection. Performance is tested using a Lignum Vitae hammer. It is in this way that the world renowned quality and performance of Gray-Nicolls bats is ensured.

All Kookaburra cricket bats are produced using Kookaburra's unique 'custom pressing' technique. This ensures that all bats are individually pressed by the bat maker to exactly the correct level to ensure the correct trade off between 'Ping' and durability. Most players will agree that no bats 'Go' like Kookaburra's and it is this technique combined with the traditional hand making skills, which have largely been lost in today's mechanised production techniques, that makes the difference.
